After a series of extraordinary adventures, the desolate Cang Hai, unable to survive in the bustling metropolis, returns to his barren hometown in the West. Confronted with the endless yellow earth and rolling hills, he digs wells and cultivates the land, gradually transforming the originally barren landscape, which was devoid of greenery, into a paradise.

A yellow dog, a donkey, a few acres of melons, several vegetable plots in front of the door, and a few acres of haphazardly planted fruit trees by the house at the foot of the mountain, bearing fruit in all seasons and flowers year after year, enjoying daily tea and home-cooked meals, playing chess and reading, living in leisurely contentment
